Applications for 2004-2005 must be submitted at the international department IFIL
All Teacher Mobility Exchanges (TM) must take place between 1st July 2004 and 30th September 2005.
On receipt of your application, the European Officer will check that an agreement is in place to allow for the exchange, liaising with the academic and host institution where necessary. Confirmation will also be sought from your Head of Department.
Application Deadline is Friday 31st January 2005.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- A Bilateral Agreement between Institut Limayrac and the host partner institution must be in place before the TM takes place.
- The host partner institution and the individual teacher(s) must agree in advance on the programme of lectures to be delivered by the visiting teacher(s).
- To qualify for a mobility grant, academics must be: a) Nationals of a European Union Member State or Member State of of the European Economic Area. or b) Nationals of an Associated Country provided that the mobility is not to the academic's national country. or c) Individuals officially recognised by the United Kingdom as refugees and/or stateless persons. or d) Individuals officially recognised by the United Kingdom as permanent and/or naturalised residents.
GRANTS
ALL travel, accommodation and subsistence claims for Socrates Teacher Mobility will be processed directly through the International Office (IFIL)
Should your total expenses claim exceed the total grant, you should look to your department for any excess claim(s). Likewise, the total grant amount will be reduced, should your total expenses claim be less than the original grant awarded to you.
To claim expenses, you will need to:
- Submit a signed Staff Expense Claim Form to the IFIL
- Attach ALL original receipts for travel, accommodation and subsistence.
- Submit a Teacher Report Form on your return
PLEASE NOTE : A Socrates Teacher Mobility Grant does **NOT** cover the following expenditure:
- Academic Tourism / Private Leisure Activities
- Hospitality (please ask your department for extra funds, should you wish to "play host" whilst abroad)
You may submit your claim(s) in the following way(s)
Either:
On purchasing your main travel ticket (i.e. flight) - submit an expenses claim.
On your return, submit a further expenses claim for accommodation, subsistence and other travel costs.
Or:
Submit a total expenses claim on return from your exchange visit for travel, accommodation and subsistence costs.
All of the above expense (within the total grant amount) will be credited to you via payroll, subject to your compliance with the above procedures.
In the event of cancellation of the exchange visit, you would be invoiced for any funds already claimed and processed.
For all other European currencies, the appropriate exchange rate will be applied on the day your claim is processed by the International Office.
TM Grants are awarded exclusively for a period of teaching at the host institution for a minimum of 5 days or 8 hours teaching.
For those academics eligible to receive a mobility grant during 2004-2005, a total grant allocation will be made on receipt / approval of each application submitted. Funds will be transferred once ALL original receipts are received by the European Officer.

In accepting a TM Grant - funded by the Commission of the European Communities within the framework of the Socrates-Erasmus Action 2.2 programme - the participating member of staff agrees that -
- the grant shall be a contribution towards the costs of travel, subsistence or language preparation for the planned teaching period.
- the grant will not be used to cover costs already supported
a) by other European Community programmes such as Leonardo da Vinci
and Fifth RTD Framework Programmes.
b) under activities funded by European Community funds
c) by funds from any other sources (i.e. Bilateral cultural agreements, private
donors, international bodies)
modifications to the planned teaching period shall be agreed to in writing prior to the teaching period
the arrangement of sufficient insurance protection shall be the responsibility of the Teacher.
a report of the teaching period shall be submitted to the Home Institution and will include documents confirming the period of teaching
It is also agreed that, except in the case of foce majeure -
to reimburse the total grant received or part of it in the case of the teacher failing to meet the obligations of the teaching period.
to reimburse the total grant received or part of it in the case of the termination of this agreement
that the institution may withhold payment, or demand the reimbursement of, any grant paid or due if the teacher fails to present his / her report on the completion of the teaching period
