FRENCH FOR ERASMUS STUDENTS
Students are preselected by their home university and should have a level of French sufficient to follow courses alongside french students.
The French courses will be held during the semester , 2 hours a week (25 hours a semester) by a teacher specialised in French language for foreign students.
THE COURSES FOR THE ERASMUS STUDENTS
For the incoming Erasmus students the courses are much more flexible than the courses for the french students. In this way they may benefit from an education that is likely to appear as a complement to the main studies of their original institution.
The classes « à la carte » are organized by the persons in charge of the IFIL (International Department of the Institut Limayrac) who deal with administrative problems, choices of courses and various problems the foreign students may encounter. Each student has a guardian « tuteur » who is in charge of the educational aspects of the students stay in France.
After having chosen their classes, the attendance of the students at those classes is compulsory. If the student can not attend a course, they must inform the teacher concerned, as well as the international department IFIL.
The Institut Limayrac is not a university but a school and the students must attend all the classes.
The French marking system
The scale of the French marking goes from 1 to 20. The mark 10 represents the average. 1 is the lowest mark and 20 the highest one.
ACCOMMODATION
There is a wide range of different accommodation, appartement in the city, studio in a university campus, rooms in the school area....
The International departement of the Institut Limayrac will provide you with an accommodation. You should get the information concerning your accommodation by the end of July (of the current year)
THE ECTS (EUROPEAN CREDIT TRANSFER SYSTEM)
a- How does the ECTS work ?
The ECTS program (European Community Course Credit Transfer System) has been developed by the European Community commitee in order to provide common procedures to guarantee the academic recognition of studies abroad. The program allows the measurement and the comparison of the academic results and makes the transfer of those results possible from one institution to another.
b- The ECTS credits
The ECTS credits are assigned to the course modules according to their relative importance. One year of studies represent 60 credits (a six month period = 30 credits maximum). Those credits include the total volume of the work that the student is supposed to supply (theoretical courses, practical courses, seminars, personal work, examinations or other valuation methods of the courses).
The concerned ECTS credits are granted to students who pass their examinations and get a sufficient mark by the different forms of valuation.
Built-in parts of the education such as the work placement in companies and the optional courses are also assigned the credits. The parts who are not included in the education will not receive the credits. However, they can be mentioned with the marks.
c- The ECTS marks
| A : EXCELLENT |

| B : VERY WELL DONE |
results over the average inspite of some shortcomings |
| C : WELL DONE |
a generally good work inspite of some noteable shorcomings |
| D : SATISFACTORY |
honourable work containing some important gaps |
| E : PASSABLE |
the results satisfy the minimal criterious |
| FX : UNSATISFACTORY |
an additional work is necessary to obtain a credit |
| F : UNSATISFACTORY |
a considerable additional work is necessary. |
d- The ECTS students
The students who participate in the ECTS program will receive complete credits for all academic work accomplished with succes in all the ECTS partner institutions. They will be able to transfer those credits from one partner instutions to another on the basis of the previous consent of the education program content abroad between the students and the concerned institutions.
Most of the ECTS students will study within one single home institution (belonging to a country with a European Community membership) during a limited period of time in order to, afterward, return to their home institution. Some will be able to continue their studies in a 3rd institution. In each of those three cases, the students must submit to the legal and institutional rules of the host country. |
